People are complaining about the smaller ink cartridges, but these printers also have smaller minimum droplet size, 1.5pL compared to 3.0pL or 3.5pL of the previous generation, so they can lay down ink more efficiently, resulting in significantly reduced ink consumption. The P700/900 are a significant advance in printer design for Epson. I have moved on to Canon printers and am quite happy. Maybe at most 2-3 times in a year I ran its built-in cleaner which uses some ink, etc. Yes for scientific work, the metric system makes more sense however in many respects the imperial measures are more practical for trades (that is how they evolved). 4X6 postcard prints are surprisingly good quality, though. BTW, They did not mention how much the printing cartridges would cost to replace, probably a good thing. Take care if the paper has a lot of curl, since this can cause the paper not to be properly picked up. The “UltraChrome HD PRO10” ink set adds a violet ink to expand gamut. Ink2image is where I get my bulk inks, and the Cave Paint pigment inks are fantastic, and colour profile perfectly with the Epson inks...the cost of setting up the continuous feed system, and maintaining the printer and ink flow, not to mention the lack environmental impact, Is fantastic. It has slots for both PK and MK black cartridges, so having both "mounted" on the carrier is not … It reduces the colour tints (magenta/green) that you used to get with some B&W printing under different lights. Also, it looks like the P900's ink tanks are now 30ml less than my 3880 (80ml). Just make sure you allow for the length of the paper. That means that a good looking image on my (calibrated) monitor should make for a good print. That’s fine, but I’ve only 13″ width paper (29.4cm). You can choose to allow printing with mismatched paper/size settings, but I find it much easier to get in the habit of always setting the correct paper details. That’s fine but I do like to make very wide panoramics. For myself this most often arises when making panoramic prints, whether from roll paper or some of the panoramic paper sizes now available. The only information I can find is on the Epson Japan website, and it says that both printers have the same ink cost per print - i.e. Regardless even if you do have a printer with a cutter, you are going to want to own a 24" rototrim anyway, if you get the P900 you can clean up on the rototrim. I've owned 5 epson printers, all printed beautifully, which is why I kept using Epson. I am very happy with this setup; the 3880 is of course a bit bulky (but acceptable), but you have also to take into account 2 important points :1) The manufacturing quality of the A2 printer is already much better than the A3 printer. There are essentially 5 different quality settings, the first two at 1440×720 resolution, the mid or ‘high quality’ one at 1440×1440 and two higher ones at 5760×1440. Sigma's 35mm F2 DG DN designed specifically for mirrorless cameras is a compact, well-built lens that produces lovely images. Heresy I know, but with experience of papers and profiling I know that the Epson Premium Luster profile will give me results that are likely to look just fine.
